So, I decided to remove the side stand to clean it as it is caked with years of chain lube. There are 2 bolts that hold it on, and one of them I think holds something else on inside. When I undid it, it gave a crack like a thread locking compound giving way, but it dosent actually unscrew and it won't tighten up at all. The bolt in question has a recess in the head.
I think I made a mistake.
Where to from here? Has this turned into an upgrade "opportunity"?
Remove side stand problem

Re: Remove side stand problem
You don't need to take it off via the two bolts as you have done.
Pop off the 8mm bolt holding the switch on.
Bolt with the threaded hole has a nut on the back, undo, stand off. The mounting plate stays on the motah.
Jobs a good 'un.

Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Re: Remove side stand problem
Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking between undoing the bolt and posting this thread.
Man I tell you, that sinking feeling... I remember being on a Pajero forum in Oz, and there was guy who undid a bolt on his auto trans. It turned out that bolt held in, the first part of the box that went in, and everything else had to come out to fix it.
With all that in mind, yes, I did have a "cup of tea"
