Can I fit a post-2001 tank to a 2000 storm?

If I want a larger tank range and if I can find one in a breaker's yard, is it possible to swap them in?

Thanks. :)

I believe its possible
BUT
its only masking the real reason for the VTR's crap fuel range

Buy a bigger tank and all you do is go further between fuel stops

Buy a decent filter (Pipercross or K&N) and get it jetted to suit and you get better engine response and more mpg so go further for less fuel
I reckon mine paid for itself within a year as I was getting 100 miles between fill ups (13litres on average) before and 120miles (still on 13litres) afterwards
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

I think Ben has the better idea really :!: or do both :!:

Getting back to your original question, if your bike is a genuine UK model and not an import, I always understood that the air-box which contains the air filter was bigger on the earlier models, that's why they produced slightly more bhp than the later ones, therefore you would need to change the air-box and filter as well as the tank :!:

However some of our non UK members have fitted the later (larger) fuel tank without changing the air-box, so I can only guess that the models for their countries must have had the smaller air-box fitted to the earlier and later models as standard :!:

HTH,

Chris.
