speedo problem

Post by adfski »

Hi I'm a newbie here!

My speedo has suddenly gone intermittent and I just need some ideas of what connections to check and clean before I go troubling any mechanics!

The location of the various connectors etc. would be helpful?

thanks

Welcome aboard adfski! :)
I had a problem wi my speedo few months ago. It would pick up fine initially, but then drop off and just sit at zero. Check the sensor thingy at the back of the gearbox. just take it out and give it a careful clean incase it's got some crap on it and not picking up a reading properly. This is what I did and it's seemed to have cured the problem completely for the past 4 month or so.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Davie.

Just out of interest, does it still rock up the mileage if the speedo is sat at zero?

Yeah, if speedo sits at zero, mileometer stops counting the miles.
It did in my case anyway.
