Firestorm for sale.

Post by Alex. »

Hi Guys,

I fancy a change, but to do that I need to sell a couple of bikes.
First up is my 2000 Honda VTR1000 Firestorm.

Image20171201_151207 by Alex Taylor, on Flickr

Spec:-
Ohlins rear shock,
Uprated fork internals,
Standard engine with race cans, standard cans and jets included,
Braided brake and clutch lines,
38,717 miles,
Black/red paint job, some scratches and a minor dent in the tank, but still looks good,
I have the colour matched belly pan, but I've never fitted it and think it looks better without.

I am asking £1,550.
The bike is located in Medway, North Kent.

More pics over on Flickr.

Good luck with the sale.

Just my opinion...take that ohlins out and sell separately. You are likely to get closer to that money if you do.
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.

Nice looking bike there.
Going by some of the prices on the web at the moment, you should manage to get rid for that price.
And if you are replacing the shock for the original one....... 1st dibs.......

Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

Good advice that. I'd guess you could ask £1300 without the shock but sell it separately for upwards of £500. You might get beaten down on that but someone will try and beat you down with the Ohlins fitted. If you need a std shock I have two spare.

Nice looking bike btw.

While it is true that I could get more by swapping out the Ohlins, she is such a sorted bike that it would be a shame to pull her apart!

Forgot to add that there is quite a bit of paperwork and history from the previous owner. All I have done is change the oil each spring and put the cam timing right...

Amongst that lot is a dyno chart from a few years ago, but in the same spec.

Now that the snow is receeding and now I have a towbar (just need to fit it!) and can deliver, she is still for sale.

My trailer is spoken for and is being collected first week in April, so delivery after that will be more complicated. Either being ridden or a delivery company.

Sorry if this creates a shootstorm, but does it still have ACCTs fitted? My mate's looking for a bike (he wants my VFR but till i repair my Firestorm it's my only runaround) and I'm trying to get him to buy a VTR

Looking at the pics it looks like std CCT's but could be stopper mod or even Bazza manuals hard to tell...Even if they are ACCT's they are not hard to change or even that expensive...
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Shoot away!

The CCT are standard, as is the rest of the engine. I had toyed with changing them for manual, but never got round to it.
As Mac says, it is not hard or expensive to change and I think that the bike is priced with that little mod in mind.

Bear in mind that the asking price is only ever an opening to the negotiation...

I have Bazza's manuals on my bike, it was just a selling point I would put to my mate, but you are right, cheap & easy to replace

I think with an offer this bike is very well priced, changing CCT's is not a problem and would cost £45-55 if self done. I can't really see why it hasn't sold ??
