BLUE bike refurb log
Ok folks,so managed to get the swing arm, linkages and stuff off the bike tonight.
Still can't undoe the top shock nut and bolt, really struggling to get any purchase.
All the bolts and spindles just slid out on a film of moly grease, thankfuly.
All the bushes are smothered in moly....if only the OO had paid as much attention to keeping it clean....
Anyways there's going to be a fair bit of refurbing on this bike so I thought I might keep log of the work...
New lift brackets work a treat

You could have borrowed my abba lift
Re: BLUE bike refurb log
I am sorry, but.... I don't think the forum rules allow you to swap the compulsory wheelie bin in photos for a cute pet.
if we don't stamp this out now, our reputation as a roughy toughy bike club will be ruined for ever.
to recover the situation the next photo has to have wheelie bin, and the bloodied remains of the rabbit sitting on top of it

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: BLUE bike refurb log
Good job with the bike lift, and secured to the sub-frame as well

Do you mean the the vertical one through the frame or the horizontal one? If it's the horizontal one, you know the nut is captive?TaxiDriver wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:27 pm

Likewise. The first time I tried to remove the shock I was cursing and shouting then felt like a right Richard when I removed the mount from the frame.TaxiDriver wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 2:30 pmI had a duh moment with that, then I realised you could remove the top bracket from the frame...freeridenick wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 11:36 amDo you mean the the vertical one through the frame or the horizontal one? I've been cleaning some parts up and decided to try this stuff out on the rear caliper mount.
Pretty nasty stuff but if your careful it does a good job.....

That is really clean. I may look into that.
Good work
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.
Re: BLUE bike refurb log
That's done a pretty good job but if you want a good all purpose cleaner for doing anything from deep cleaning thick grease from chain and srocket area to carpet and kitchen work surface cleaning then give Bilt Hamber Surfex HD a go. You would very rarly want to use it full strength, in fact I would no recommend using full strength, and it can be watered down by 90% depending on it's intended purpose and strength required. It's also eco-friendly. I generally always keep a 60/40 mix knocking around.
