Does your storm use oil?

Post by Hanuman »

My storm needs a litre every 1000 miles.

I've put 2K on it in a month and it needed a litre and a bit each time it cracked off a K.

it's currently nearly tipping 7K and i didnt expect it to use any oil.

do certain conditions - like accelerating like a banshee everywhere use oil

this threads been covered a few times now but the general concensous is that the storm drinks more oil than a really thirsty oil drinking thing!

I have to keep topping mine up so i doubt its anything to worry about, im sure ben or somebody can give you an explanation of why.

hey cubi - i've used half a bottle of the small top up bottle of oil and mine's done 2k so i think it's a normal thing.

i was a bit worried but there aren't clouds of smoke from the exhaust so i dont think it's burning a lot.

Yeah but you have trouble keeping the front wheel down so that could be contributing to it :!:

On the topic...

Been cleaning my bike today and did some small jobs and then decided to check oil level (always a problem how to keep bike straight and look into check window at same time!). Found oil level just touching min line.
Last time I changed oil at least 5500 km ago and added about 50 ml 2000 km ago. Do not know how much I need to pour to get it to normal level, but I remember than 5500 km ago I have not actually filled it to the top, just got it to stay in middle between min and max lines. I think this level of consumption from 97 Storm is OK. Still, my previous Honda's have not used oil at all or hardly used any per 6000 km, so I am a bit dissapointed.

this thread answered a question I had a while back, mine is a 98 and I had to a full litre of oil to get the level up to correct after about 3 months of owning it and about 1500-2000 km and yes like someone else I accelerate like shot out of a canon everywhere
ok ok I'll do it..........later

Mine doesen't use any oil, '99 with 44.000 kms. And I don't mind giving it some stick. I'm still not much on wheelies though.

Honda was having problems with fully synthetic oil in the vtr and reccomended dealerships to change to semi synthetic when servicing according to a mate of mine who works at my local honda dealership aswell as speaking to other people having problems with clutches slipping.
