tank range...
I've been filling up my 'storm after about 80/90 miles, cos i'm concerned about the reputation for poor tank range. However, I thought I'd let it run down and see what I could get out of it the other day.
I had 101 miles on the trip meter, and the light hadn't even come on. is this normal, or shuold I check the level sensor in the tank is working?

Re: tank range...
That's perfectly normal imo, I have the 16ltr tank myself, it all depends on how you ride your bike and obviously short trips you won't get as many mpg as on long run's when riding it the samefeef wrote:I've been filling up my 'storm after about 80/90 miles, cos i'm concerned about the reputation for poor tank range. normal riding ie 100 kmh( aprox 60mph) I get 173 ks ( just over 110 miles) to red light warning. Have done 200 ks on a tank, but getting rather worried
toward the end, was a while ago but think i only put in 14.5ltrs so was still some left, tank is 16ltrs supposedly. Usually carry 5 ltr can of fuel just in case.

tank range
we've had this many times the early tanks (smallest) hold 16 ltrs and the fuel light comes on between 90 - 105 miles ( general opion of others ) but the main point is when you fill it how much does it take mine generaly takes between 11-12 ltrs at a 110 miles ( riding easy) or 90 miles ( wringing its neck)
Will also depend on the anglr of the rod inside the tank which holds the sensor. When I tried to 24 l tank I had to ben it to fit that tank. When I refitted the 16l tank I rebent it. Before the 24l experiment the RLOD came on bet 100 -110 miles depending on how I'd been riding. Now (when the sodding thing runs at all) it will come on at 95 miles and there is about 3.7 litres left in.
