Welcome aboard James,
I wouldn't worry too much about CCT's (fair enough they can cause problems as you've read) otherwise you won't enjoy riding your bike :!:

Chris.

PS. Perhaps you can find out from the previous owner if they had been replaced :!:

Welcome mate. I wouldn't worry just yet, they do make a wierd slapping noise when they're wearing out.

to quote a book i once read

DON'T PANIC

the talk tend tobe a bit spurious about them on here, which looks daunting when you first start reading thro', check the colour dot on them and somebody should be able to tell you if they've already been changed

oh and welcome

No mod's yet but thinking seriously about spending wad's on upgrading.
Stage one, blueflames,fork's ,shock,briaded hoses,or new bike. :?
No honda available :( so the Triumph sprint st 1050 look's favourite.
Rodger recon's there's plenty of clearance between valve's and piston's.
Someone rode home with one gone so as long as you take it steady when the niose start's it should be ok, maybe

Forgot to mention that while at the Farmyard Party and after bump starting the storm and leaving it ticking over for a while i noticed a rattle ! :( :(
Found the culprit almost straight away . . . . . . my bloody headlight conversion !
The lens was rattling against the panel !!! So thats one worry sorted !!!! :D
So if any of you have a headlight conversion and hear a rattle then check this first !
