Swapped out the flasher relay, blinkers now blink on cue, changed out the brand new organic rear pads for a pair of Goldfren -- or is it Newfren..? S3 sintered in hopes of getting rid of annoying squeak at parking speeds and achieving any kind of useable power*.. nichs on both counts. Seems the front rubber and pin on rear caliper are in need of replacement, one's torn and the other is worn. Will order that and see if that fixes the squeak at least.
*yes i know the fast kids don't even use a rear brake, but it is a street bike.

For rear feel, I've found organic pads are the best of a bad bunch.
But if you drop the front a little and fit a 6mm spacer in the rear, with decent pads in the front there's next to no weight on the rear when braking properly, so it's immaterial.
Like a lot of bikes, the rear brake is an ornament for Mot use only.
Unless you try to ride it like a cruiser- in which case, suggest you sell it and buy a cruiser.

^ yeah thanks. No i dont ride it like a cruiser, except for when im trying to bed new rear pads in lol. If i did have a cruiser i reckon id try and ride it like a sportsbike though lol. But it certainly is the weakest rear brake ive had Plus it makes a noise which i have yet to get to the bottom of so i thought i'd experiment. Ive never locked it up yet, even standing on it. Its probably a good thing. it certainly holds me in place when sat on an incline though so cant complain.
The disc is new as the one it came with was absolutely munted.

Mr Squid, one of my Storms has a suzuki ( huck spit...spitoooooon! ) SV650 rear calliper on it...
It's on the bike I bought from the Master Breaker himself...Jonesey...
It has much more power/feel than the std honda one...
If your std ones rubbers have disintegrated then when replacing take the thing off & give it a propper clean & service...Piston & seals out proper clean!
Edit update...It is a CBR 500 not an SV also the bike has a braced swinger so the mounting bracket is different... although others who have braced still use the std calliper...so it must be the same fittment...

Hmm.. its tempting.. i could get one of those for the cost of pins and rubbers,, but would still need pins and rubbers, and pads, and its still just a single pot.. might put that one on the backburner for a bit. Thanks for the idea though.

Cheers guys it’s a 1968 Triumph 650 Trophy TR6P ex police.
It needs a new battery and seat foam also tyres are cracked on the side walls and the tank could do with a re-spray but it’s in pretty good original order really.

Welcome to the Triumph twin club mate. There was an article in the April 2019 edition of The classic motorcycle magazine about a guy called Terry Smith who has, collected and restored to original spec, 15 police spec bikes. Worth a look if you find a copy, or I’ve got a copy if you want a look.

checked the blue ones sprockets and chain. i know id checked and re checked the chain run after the winter refit of the spondon arm but, i wanted to make sure all was running true and no strange sprocket wear or disc wear... alls good

750 miles this year and the gear noise is back after that strip and bottom end rebuild. Hey ho I'll just ride it. Pulled the PAIR stuff so I can get a tool in to adjust the idle mixtures.
