Sorted the head bearing on the VFR and found a fork seal had gone. Ages hunting round found a set in Huddersfield and the forks are now with a local shop to fit them on Monday. Cutting it proper fine this is. I leave on Thursday

Just the fact that I have to put at least 4 bikes outside to have room in the cave to work on a bike inside & to get to the bench & tools...

I did refurb a set of callipers yesterday ready to swop the ones on Custurd but I need to swap the discs as the bobbins are shot & I really need to service/swop the rear linkage as well...

Ho Hum British summer at its best...

Good job I have Mon & Tues off... Suppose I'll just have to sit in & watch BSB instead...

Custurds TLC continued today.

Front callipers off & drianed, ready for a refurbed set to go back on. Front wheel out. Leccy dril & wire brush to strip all the old mankey paint off the forks, Etch primered. Swopped the discs as the bobbins were shot on the ones on it. Wheel back in loose so I could sort the rear end out.

Wheel out, cans off, took off the shock linkage & replaced with a refurbed one, bit fiddly but did it without having to drop the swingarm or even loosen the shock...

Cans back on with new clamps & gaskets, wheel back in, tidy up off the abba & put back to bed...

Tomorow it will be back on the abba, front end up, spray the forks...when dryish new callipers back on & prob find some other stuff to do...

Picked up the fixed forks, got it all back together in time for a quick test ride before it lashed it down. All good now

Custurd TLC ptII... So back on the Abba, front wheel back out sprayed the forks, farted around doing a few other bits, wheel back in, put the refurbed callipers on with nice new SBS pads, bleed them up, nice firm leaver of slowingness, tightend & torqued up all the front wheel bolts, even off the Abba for a bounce of the forks & back on the Abba, put the cleaned & polished m/gaurd back on, fairings & mirrors...

Tidy up the cave, bikes back in...sorted.

Took it out for a shake down & bed the pads in. Nothing fell off & the brakes work quite nicley thak you.

Pads on first impression seem much better than the ones that were in it before...Not 100% sure but I think they were Bendix ones, good enough with nice fresh fluid but these new SBS seem much sharper biting...




I need some new calliper mounting bolts !

oil & filter change on the Storm, I normally do it every year at the start of the year but decided I didn't do much mileage last year so was OK to be a bit lazy.

I also fixed the feed pipe from the loobman chain oiler as it kept falling off on the Scotland trip, so I was oiling my swingarm rather than the chain

After having had the right hand radiator repaired twice it let go again so I bit the bullet and bought a good one from a wrecker.

Just replaced it and put new coolant in.

Going to a Moto Guzzi rally in a couple of weeks time so thought it best to do now rather than leave it to the last minute.

Also did an oil and filter change as well.

Vanstub brought his butcherd Blade over & together we changed the fork seals,a bit of Laural & Hardy style of mechanics but we got it done in the end...The second fork was a lot easier & quicker to do...
