Travel advice - what do folks take?

I used to take
a) my enduro tool roll as each big item had at least 2 uses, so that gave me pliers, Allen keys, sockets up to 13mm (10mm spanner acted as the ratchet), spanners up to 17mm, screwdriver bits etc. ... the Honda tool kit can undo the spindle nut if you stamp on it.
b) cable ties
c) some spare nuts and bolts
d) spare clutch lever
e) puncture repair kit


it is also worth using your travel toolkit to work on the bike, so s) you don't over tighten any spindles compared to the tools you have to undo them, and b) so you find out what is missing or redundant.

And don’t forget some gaffa tape and chain lube.
Check your insurance cover and brake down cover.
A spare pair of gloves is always handy, chances are you will get wet at some time

Good point about insurance, I checked with my insurance company last year and they said all policies cover riding abroad but it's basic cover only, that means third party cover only, I took the chance but they would have upped the cover for extra cost. worth checking it out.

Al, he's going on a VFR800, I'd say fairly impossible to stamp on the spindle nut
