Given the length of the gearbox output shaft (compared to 2.5mm) I would have thought you'll put loads more pressure on it by having the chain too tight than moving the lever pivot position further out by 2.5mm
do you think this would cause a problem like the spacer spinning around very fast and maybe eventually wear the spline away or will there be enough pressure from the GOOD sprocket when torqued up for it not to spin.
I can't remember off the top of my head what the mouning face on the front sprocket looks like. Given the amount of torque it requires to do it up I really can't see the washer spinning any more than the rear wheel spacers spinning when the wheel goes round
The wheels are deff inline i put one off my very long sash cramps on the rims and checked to see if it touched both radius on both wheels.
8O Alarm bells
Please tell me you put two cramp on and made sure the front wheel was equidistant between the two
The front rim is 60mm narrower than the rear so a flat edge against the rear rim should be 30mm inside the edge at the front
Also, if you're gonna be very acurate you really need to let the tyres down/ take them off so you're using the rims, not the tyre

WRT the rear hub, is it threaded or do the bolts come through from behind meaning that the hub is just acting as a spacer?
Just thinking that if its just acting ac a spacer you could get away with leaving less material on it
Hi Ben
yes i alinged 2 cramps just on the rims NO TYRES when it was all jacked up off the floor i hav took some pics just placed the chain on roughly so this is what i am looking at.

SPROCKETS

Post by alan »

UPDATE

Since blagging all your heads today  i have been on with Daz Sear and he has changed his mod on the rear sprocket and has now gone with a 5 mil spacer made from another sprocket on the front only because the chain was running off the chain guide slightly. He had to remove the rubber backing plate.

He thinks its a better option, which i do after Ben brought up about what happens when you come to change the rear sprocket. Also i powdercoated my hub and would of spoilt it :lol:This is just one of the little niggles to the build that im was abit pissed with but hey got there in the end with a little help from you guys.

Thanks to John (jaglifter) i have a front sprocket and he is going to mill it for me what a star i owe you one.

Thanks again everyone i will keep you all posted

SPROCKET

Post by alan »

Yes Chris
a little bit further forward now plus ordered my brake lines with paddockstand only a rear disc and header/ pipes to sort then its the big test ride soooooooooooooooooooooooooo can not wait  intresting what you was saying about the outrigger in streetfighter.

I have never bought the mag but go on wwwstreetfighter.nl website for the pics of the bikes have loads now they are amazing theres no information on any building or solving a certain problem, i think all that would be as you say in the mag.

Just a little question Chris i changed my front tensioner everything went okay but on the storm you turn the crank anti clockwise which i did but after everything went back together i turned the crank clockwise for probably one full revolution which made a noise i didnt like until i realized i was turning the wrong way then i turned it the right way which was fine.

My question is do you think i will have done anything to the cct or do think it was just a noise from the chain under load going the wrong way?

I wouldn't have thought you had done any damage Alan, especially if when turning it the correct way everything seemed fine, an easy mistake to make :!: It could have been the starter clutch making the noise that you heard :!:

Chris.

PS. That Streetfighter site you mentioned above, I have found some interesting pic's on there, but haven't had a look for ages, now you've mentioned it, I must go and have another look :!: :D

right, having a slight change of plan

going to go to the exhaust maker, with a selection of piccys and ask him to "design" somelink pipes for me

this should sort the tweeking of the nearside pipe and allow for the running of the chain

thanks for all the help, will post piccys when sorted

LINK PIPES

So you are taking your bike with you? It would be better as you say he can tweek the left pipe abit to make it match correctly.
Its not that it doesnt match it turns in slightly more than the right if you see what i mean.

What position are your cans at the moment?

i've currently got ART high levels on, so hopefully i can loose the spacers on the hangers as well and gain some footpeg back

not planning to do anything with them except probably lob em in the garage

dunno bout the diameter, but they fit inside my ART cans, will try and guesstimate bit later

tho' they have a 51-55mm jubilee clip on to tighten them onto the pipe

I will have measure and see whats what do you have a pic of your exhausts on your bike.

Your cans will be shorter than mine as i have full size as in standard lengths not high rise cans which are shorter.

If i can adapt them to fit and have a piece of pipe made to make up the gap how much are you looking for.

Alan

ps could you also measure the length of your cans please
