Slight vibration
Slight vibration
Hoping one of you be able to help?
I've a 99 Storm Ive had for about 2-3 years. I've noticed on the longer rides Im getting numbness in my right foot. obviously this would be down to a vibration, but what could it be to only be on the right side?!
thanks
Daz

Re: Slight vibration
BTW the peg rubber is in good order.
Re: Slight vibration
Sounds weird but make sure your carbs are balanced, causes all sorts of vibes...
Also make sure the all the bolts holding on the footrest are torqued up correctly...

Re: Slight vibration
if the exhaust is slightly twisted it will transfer more engine vibration into the frame.
slacken it off a bit and tighten it up from the front to the back

Ok cool. Never really thought about it being vibration from the exhaust, but it make perfect sense. Thanks, I’ll check itAMCQ46 wrote:if the exhaust is slightly twisted it will transfer more engine vibration into the frame.

Re: Slight vibration
I used to put a set of std cans on for the mot at first, they always made the rh peg buzz noticeably.
Never a problem with mids and cans, though.
If you have standard cans on, to check, just remove the bolt through the clamp by the peg and temporarily twist a bit of wire through the holes- then ride to test.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Slight vibration
Nice, thanks. Hopefully I’ll grab some time in the garage this week and have a look. I’ll report backtony.mon wrote:I used to put a set of std cans on for the mot at first, they always made the rh peg buzz noticeably.

Re: Slight vibration
update:
Took a look at this at the weekend, and found the bolt connecting the pip to the footpeg was super tight and rounded out! so looks like it was an issues for the person before. Anyway, the rubber mounted was old and started to split, it was on so tight it was crushing the rubber. Ive replaced the the bolt, might need to replace the rubber but not until the rain stops and i can go on a long test.
fingers crossed.

Re: Slight vibration
It should have a top hat spacer in it to pevent the rubber being squashed...DazB wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 3:47 pm update:

Re: Slight vibration
Or if you mean the front one same thing but a slightly different size...
Before you get new rubbers & spacers, try it with the pipe not bolted to the front one & see if it cures the buzz...
