Larger fuel tank
Larger fuel tank
I've briefly mentioned this project before but the tank finally came back today from enlarging and what a quality piece of work it is too!
Couldn't resist plonking it on the 'Storm to see how it looks. At first I thought it was a little too bulbous but with a touch of Photoshop and 'painting' it, it seems to be growing on me.
Capacity should be 5 - 5.5 gallons ( 23 - 25 litres).
Also got a fuel gauge lined up with a hydrostatic sensor which should be interesting.
Cheers

Great work Pentode
As said, you would have to look closely to notice the difference

Bad choices make good stories

Ah, my second look makes me wonder if the riding position will be adversely affected by way of propping the stomach higher with consequent longer reach to the bars?
Just a thought cos you've obviously sat on the bike and are either happy or commenced a diet!

Looks the business to me, well done
Me being a tight fit will just keep setting my trip and "clenching " at around 80 miles

Re: Larger fuel tank
Yes I jumped on it to see how it felt and was pleasantly surprised. Sure, there's a little more support for my slightly (ish) protruding midriff which is nice and I didn't feel overwhelmed by the height of the tank but it is nevertheless quite a size and the challenge is to disguise that if possible.
As for a longer reach, I'm built like an ape anyway with the consequential long arms!

Hi Chris,
Yes, it was these guys - https://www.fueltanks.co.uk/services/fu ... expansion/
Not cheap but I'm really impressed by the quality. It's just beyond me how they've managed to blend the numerous curves perfectly.
Fully protected inside with about three sessions in an oven to cure the various brews they use.

Their process of the work carried out to a fuel tank sounds really good.
It can't be an easy operation to modify a motorcycle fuel tank with all it's non-flat surfaces,
Chris.
