This Sucks

Post by cupasoop »

How much "suck" does the vacum pipe that works the fuel tap have?

Having got rid of my scotoiler i'm now left with a vacum hose in 2 bits so I either find something to join the 2 bits together (which i havnt found yet) or plug the scotoiler connection with something.

Do you reckon some mastic would seal it ok or would the "suck" be too much for that?
Rich.

Nip down to your local aquatics shop, & ask for a plastic tee piece, joint the two pipes together, block off the other joint with a little piece of tube
& stick a small bolt/screw up it.

The scotoiler connects with a t piece, that bit is there already, just wondering what to seal the now exposed bit up with.

If there isnt that much of a vacum i'll just stick a wee screw in it.

Vacuum cap. I installed a t-fitting on the line running to the petcock so I can sync the carbs w/o having to futz with the lines.

Either a small screw or small bolt should be fine as long as the head is big enough to stop any chance of it being sucked up the pipe, you'll probably find it easier to fit a very short length of hose to the tee piece then fit the screw or bolt into the hose rather than the harder plastic of the tee piece,

I just stuck a wee screw into the t piece. Was out for a couple of hours today and it all seems fine.

Cheers all
Rich.
