Just got some braided lines of fleabay and now want some pads for the front, going to get EBC double H unless anyone can suggest a better alternative?????

I have got ebc hh but can't tell you what there like as i hav'nt ridden with them yet also brandnew Hel lines off paddockstand.
But before that i had sbk 3's now there replaced with 4's i thought they were really good.

Ive heard that ebc's last a bit longer than sbk's but wear the disc slighlty more how true it is i'm not sure.

EBC HH pads and braided lines work well . . . . . even under heavy emergency braking !!!!!!!!!!!! :evil:
Had em fitted for the last 8000 miles.

What do you want them to do?

Performance Friction are the best

Just got a new account with SBS Scandianavian Brake Systems

And I can get you EBC all day.

Personally I go with PF but SBS are good too, look back to 80's they were all the rage then.

Depends how you ride and what you want to use them for
I found the EBC's had good initial bite when new but this wore off after a while. Also they overheated & faded really badly under track use and hard road use as well

Carbone Lorraine SBK3's - fantastic on track (felt like carbon brakes as they gripped harder as they got hotter) but on the road they rarely got hot enough. Consequently I had a few 'oh sh1t I'm not gonna stop' moments

Bendix supersports - Lovely. Good bite when cold & wet (not quite as sharp as a new set of EBC's which isn't necessarily a bad thing) Also had a similar feel to the SBK3's when hot (ie self-sero operation and NO fade)

Carbone Lorraine A3's - Very similar to the Bendix. My current pads and I'd happily recommend them


I've not tried the 2 that Steve has mentioned but I know in racing circles they are the only 2 anybody uses. How they'd fare on the road (ie do they work from cold? etc) I'm not sure but if anyone has tried them I'd be very interested to hear

Well i ride hard and fast on the road but also all year round so ones that wont get hot are a no no but i want something that wont fade on the road when im chasing down R1s and gsxrs like yesterday :D

Okay

EBC FA187 £16.66 a set I.E. £33.32 per wheel

SBS waiting for price list but so far they seem about the same if not a little more than EBC, these also have a few different pads IE Dual Carbon Compound (which my mate is trying in the Derby Phoenix Club so watch this space)

Performance Friction £33.58 a set I.E.£67.16 per wheel

All will incurr a del fee of around £3

My feeling
  • PF are the best great all round pads,

    SBS I have been assured are as good but yet to find that out (and seeing as I have fell out with PFC I would imagine that will be sooner than later)

    EBC nowt wrong with them for every day braking but if you like to whizz around then forget it :o)

Although superbike mag tryed them on they staff bike r1 and said this

A while back I fitted a pair of Performance Friction brake pads which, I was told, were fantastic when they had a bit of heat in them. To and from work in the dry? All fine and dandy. A track day at Silverstone?
Faultless throughout the day with no fade. A long ride on the motorway without touching the brakes for 90 miles? Not so good when you come to a roundabout at the end of an exit sliproad. And then, riding in the rain on the daily commute? In light of recent experience I would have to say that you can't recommend them. For a track bike? Fantastic. For an all-day, all weather bike? If I'm honest I'd say no.

Yeh,
Its very much down to personal tase but it does seem to depend on the bike as well

Various people I've spoken to have not had any problem with the SBK3's on the road but I personally couldn't wait to get rid of them. The PF's sound very much the same -a track only pad

Of the ones I've tried I WOULD recommend the Carbone Lorraine A3's and the Bendix supersports for normal road use, fast road use, very fast road use (60mph max :lol:) and heavy track day use

I've found no problems with Carbone Lorraine SBK's either... I like them.

Course, braided hoses make a bigger difference as does learning to brake hard - most valuable thing I've ever learnt.
Voted most likely to be found dead in park bushes following an act of autoerotic asphyxiation.

I had SBS pads on my old bandit 6 and had a few very butt puckering moments on the motorway, you get no initial bite at all with them and glide onwards at the same speed with the lever all the way to the bar if they have no heat in them, after the initial panic second or two they were then very good though.

it just depends what type of riding you do, long motorway commutes or twisties, or track days. your choice.

i've got a set of the Bendix pads i got off ebay, had them about 8 months since the last time ben recomended them, not got round to fitting them yet, :oops:
