Firestorm misfire

Post by terminator »

Well I have had the bike since new and it has done about 30,000 miles. Front camchain tensioner broke two years ago with the usual damage and expense. The bikes been fine since then until my last track day when it suddenly started to misfire at about 5000rpm. It seemed to be electrical so I changed the. Plugs, coils,CDI unit, Amplifier unit. I'm starting to run out of ideas. Can anybody help?
I have had my firestorm since 97. It had a hard life and looking a bit tired. Still a good bike.

Welcome aboard Terminator :!: :)

Have you checked the diaphragm in the petrol tap (petcock) and the condition of the vacuum hose going to it as they have been known to split, (it's the pipe that fits to the back of the tap, its the one nearest to your groin when sitting on the bike)
