Clutch Biting Point

Post by Boubepo »

My Firestorm failed it's MOT today on the basis the clutch was slipping and the biting point is too far out. "Your clutch has gone mate" he told me

I ride it up a mountain every day and it pulls like a train, I've honestly never noticed any slip and I know what a slipping clutch feels like

The biting point is quite far out though. I'm going to make an adjustment at the lever and take it back and hope I get a different examiner

Other than that I really don't know what to do

Does this really sound like my clutch has gone? Any thoughts or ideas would be gratefully received

Why not buy an aftermarket clutch lever that you can adjust to be nearer the bar?
If the clutch isn't slipping, there's no point replacing it until you need to.
You can always change it back after the mot Nazi has proved his petty point.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

The clutch operation isn't even part of the MOT, only the condition of the lever itself is, so I think you need to go back and query this.

Search this page for clutch:
