VFR800 Tank install

Post by Galaxieman »

Thought I'd share my VFR tank install pictures. I finally got around to painting the thing after pulling the tank and adding a better gasket between the petcock and adapter plate. It was fine between the adapter plate and the tank, but the silicone sealant I used to seal around the petcock went all gooey and started weeping gas. Holds right at 19.3L, which is I guess exactly the same as your post 2000 tanks over there, but is still a damn sight better than the 16L tank (of which the last 2L is completely unusable).

They're Beetlebags made by Corbin, and they're hard. I got mine on Ebay with a little road rash and fixed them with some fiberglass and paint. All told I've got $300-$350 invested. They run $1000 new from Corbin. Definetly try to find them used. The VTR motor is apparently GREAT for sport tourers, as you have the Varadero over on that side of the pond.
