You need the following bits for the conversion:

96-97 Blade forks and stanchions
96-97 Blade yokes
96-97 Blade clipons or clipons with a 5 degree drop (try spondon)

You can use your storm front wheel/disks/calipers and ignition barrel with this route but you'll need to relocate your horn.

Standard blade forks are much better than standard storm forks (allow for compression damping for a start) but are much better after a re-valve/re-spring.

The cheapest way is to source the parts yourself and do it yourself as its not that hard but if you don't trust yourself the guys at rhencullen in Hinckley who have loads of VTR knowledge will do it for you.

Still best and cheaper to source the parts yourself though (£250-£300).

I've got a blade conversion on mine with racetech valves and ohlins springs and the difference is phenomenal.

Have a look at Shaun Pallisters webpage for detailed description of fork replacement http://www.vtwo.demon.co.uk/

Hope this helps.

BLADE FORKS

Post by sirch345 »

I personally do not think its worth doing when you add up the cost, you can get your forks upgraded to a much better standard for a fraction of the cost. A lot of satisfied VTR owners have had Roger Ditchfield @ Revolutionuk rework their forks with excellent results, if your not sure have a chat with him, he's a decent bloke with stacks of experience, he won't mind you giving him a ring, (tel. No. 07970 915259) he's helped me out before with no financial gain. If you are hell bent on taking the blade route don't forget you will still need a better rear shock, hope this helps
all the best Chris.

I went the blade route for two reason. Better front end suspension (also obtainable with a good Rogering) and also better looks (not obtainable with a good Rogering)

Ive just posted a piccy of my bike in the Bike Chat section have a gander for how the forks look on the bike :D

Cheers
