I've seen the light!
Hey
Has anyone got any tips or experience in uprating the headlight on the 'Storm. I've not been out at night much (yet) but i wasn't that impressed with the light.
Is there anyway of uprating the bulb without burning out the electrics and melting the headlight glass?
I don't really fancy converting two twin headlights - i quite like the way my baby 'Storm looks at the moment.
Cheers guys

Some members of the superhawkforum.com site swear by the Sylvania Silverstar bulb as being a definite improvement over the OEM unit. I discussed the matter with my dealer who proceeded to recommend a 100/55 Xenon bulb so I just recently installed it but have have not had the chance to really put it to the test yet. BTW, the light from a Xenon bulb is supposed to be much whiter than the OEM one
Good luck

craigbaby hid is HIGH INTENSTITY DISCHARGE instead of a fillimant the buld is actually more like a welder/flouro light etc an electrical charge is passed through gas cuasing it to flouress.
no fillimant no breaks apparently last lots longer than usual stuff, nowt to burn out.
and yes they are expensive, anywhere between £300 and £400ish but the write ups they get say they end result is worth every penny, ope this helps.

4 cyl = 2ltr , 2 cyl = 1ltr it's all relative.

hey ben
the pics look really impressive.
Do they put any extra pressure in the charging system?
The light on the storm is a bit poor at night and I really wanna upgrade it - just not sure i can afford the HID tho.

Have you noticed when you're riding that everyone going slower than you is an idiot and everyone going faster than you is a maniac?

I got mine from
http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk
They are a 2 minute job to fit
Pull the connector off from under the clocks
Remove the rubber sealing ring
There is a spring clip that you push down to release the bulb
Then take the old bulb out and tread on it
Put the new one back in (being careful to avoid touching the glass!!)
Replace the clip (bit fiddly but not too bad)
Replace the rubber ring
Replace connector
Blind the next dozy twot who won't move out of the overtaking lane

I know this is a bit of an old thread but...........Stormin Ben wrote:I hope not!!
They are only 55w so I don't think that they will, its just the filament and gas it runs in that makes the difference
I've got 100W rally bulbs in my car and the light from the Osrams is a much whiter light
Ben
Interesting you have upped the power of the front from a 55 to a 100w bulb.
This had been talked about on some other biking forums but there were 2 points that people had concerns about.
1: the extra heat build up in the headlight unit.
2: the extra power going thru the switch gear (some used a relay)
I guess you find no problems with either of those aspects?
Has anyone else followed your example and upped their bulbs to 100w ones also?

Nooo!!
If you re-red my post again you'll see the Osrams I've put in are only 55W
What I was saying was they are a much brighter light than the 100W ones I have in my car
The 100W's do draw more current which in the car isn't a problem but with the standard VTR rectum-fryer I'd be worried about doing to the storm
Also they do get hot which might be a problem for the VTR lens (I think its plastic not glass but I'm not 100% on that one)
The 55W osrams have none of the problems

Yup, I'm gonna for for either a Osram or Philips 50% brighter bulb then.
Bike lights could always be a lot better.
Not like ye'ole days when (naked bike) you just changed the entire unit for a Cibie replacement and then set fire to the tree's on High Beam
