I got the plugs from eBay.

Lots for sale there, but previous seller is out of stock.

This seller does them

While we're on the subject, can you please point me in the right direction for the correct crimping pliers for these connection terminals :?:

I solder all my connections, so am not sure if these connector terminals can be crimped.

You do need a powerful soldering iron though, especially on the thick cabling I used.

Not eco-friendly, but use 0.5mm flux-cored solder with lead in it, not the lead free stuff. You can still get this from a few sellers on eBay, but they won't say lead for legal reasons, so usually advertised as Sn/Pb (tin/lead alloy).

Some people say soldering is unreliable, as it makes the cable brittle....but I've been soldering for over 40 years, and never had a single failure yet :D
You do have to do it properly:
Pre-tin the wires with solder
Hold the wire into the connector tail, and heat the connector and wire together until the applied solder flows well.
Don't use too much solder, and always apply the solder to the wire/connector and not directly onto the soldering iron tip.

Many thanks for your replies

I'm old school and prefer the lead type solder too over the non lead type.

After some head scratching I have now tracked down the crimping tool for these connectors, I knew someone had posted this info up, I just had to remember where: https://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopi ... 82#p351482

Thanks also for the info on soldering,

Hi Chris, good find on the crimping tool.
I may try one next time, would certainly be easier!

It was a photo from the Late Wicky, a great forum member who is very sadly missed,

Few more jobs done.

Replaced the plugs, although they looked fine as they should be after only 9K miles.
Replaced the air filter....good that there was not a mouse nest in there, unlike what I found in my VFR!

Then fitted a pair of VFR 800 FI clip-ons to give about an inch rise.
Bit of a faff, juggling everything to get clearance to tank and fairing....but eventually sorted
