Metzlers

Post by Pete.L »

Has anyone any experiance with the new Sports Tec M1?
It's supposed to be the replacement for the MEZ1 which was then replaced with the Z3 and so and so forth.
I used to run the Metzlers on my old RF900 and got on quite well with them and I'd be interested to see what you peeps think of the new version.
Cheers

One of guys I know back in Kiev has one of those Metzs on rear on his Busa. Now, believe it or not - it has delaminated at 240 kmph....fortunately he did not went down.

I got myself a chance to try new Continental Sport Attack and I am totally in love with those - cost less than Bridges or Michelins too...

Delaminated 8O
Yikes! 8O
I've gone and ordered them now. I kinda thought if no one on here's tried them I'd give em a go and let everyone know what they're like :?

On the brightside  I don't do 240 most days :P

Nothing like undermining your confidence :!:
Remember though Pete the Busa has a fair few more bhp than your SP2 and originally only a tyre specially made was suitable for the Hayabusa :!:

In fact, if memory serves, the only Suzuki approved fitment is a BT56!!!!

Well,
they're on there now and I'm slowly bedding them in. First impressions feel quite good but that might just be because I'm on a proper profile again. I haven't taken them to the edges yet but I'm working on it
A few more miles and I'll start giving em some real stick, and I've got a track day booked at the end of the month so we'll know for sure what they're like by the end of that

Hi Pete,
I've only jusy seen this post!
I've had them on for about 3,000 miles now and I think they are great.
Never had any problem with them, just about to the edge of the rear,(never get there though!)
I would definitely have them again. They were voted best road tyre by MCN last year, that says a lot. :D

Thanks Curly,
I've had a chance to give them a bit more stick since my last post and I must admit they do feel confidence inspiring :P
There's a lovley set of double S bends coming out of cirencester on the way to tha A46 and I got round that bugger at 90 and had to tuck my elbow in to stop it from scraping 8O
I'm still not sure of the limets but it was a smooth as silk and absolutely planted so I think this could be the start of a beautiful relation ship :D

track day wednesday, If I'm still in one piece I'll post my findings

Bit behind the times here I have been on Holiday :o)

The actual tyre for the Busa was and still is the BT56 J <<<< the J is very important. There are plenty of reasons for this but its all about the speed.

Steve
