Cheap seat cowls?

Post by LewisB »

Has anyone had experience with the seat cowls off AliExpress? Pretty cheap! I buy a fair bit off AliExpress/alibaba and although I’d say I’m happy with 95% of the things I get from there, buying something like this could be a gamble in terms of fit, finish and colour match. Be good to hear for any Cheap Chinese seat cowls owners ( if there are any)Image

Good luck with it. Post up a revue when it turns up, gives everyone else an idea whether they’re worth a punt 👍

So!
After just shy of a month, it arrived!
Please note I have never had a seat cowl so I have nothing to compare it too!
First impressions are pretty good. Material seems ok, although it feels abit brittle at the attachment tabs underneath, they seem weak at the joints. I had to work out and drill locating holes on the tabs that clip under the seat.
Paint finish was better than expected, a couple of imperfections but hardly noticeable.
There was one or two tiny chips in the pain in the corners but this didn’t bother me (you’ll see why)
My biggest gripe is how it sits on the tail fairing, it’s been cut uneven and I’d touching the fairing at one point, then a gap further up.
Here’s some scores out of ten!
Build quality 6/10
Finish 7/10
Fit 5/10
Over all, I do think it’s £35 well spent (bought on AliExpress)
Here’s some photos

Yes! That’s one thing I forgot to mention. The colour match was very good. Not perfect but very good! Hell of a lot better than the colour matching paints I’ve been buying to repair my tail (hence why I resorted to making number boards!)Image

As you said, good for the price. The number boards tie it in very well. Well done mate
