Tool advice reqd

Post by Stormin Ben »

I'm after a low range torque wrench for doing up all those small nuts & bolts
The one I have at the mo is supposed to be 10-130NM but the lower end of the scale is virtually unusable coz you can't feel it click

So I had a good look on the net and the only reasonably priced ones are the same range
The only low range one I've found so far is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DRAPER-1-2-SQUARE ... dZViewItem

Has anyone used one like this?
Is it any good?

Or can anyone recommend somewhere that does a low range one?
Tried Screwfix, ebay, halfords etc with no luck (unless I want to part with £70+ 8O )
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

I've got a Norbar SL1
its does 8-54 Nm or 5-40 Ftlbs
it clicks even at the lowest setting, norbar also make a SL0 which goes lower again.

I have a 2nd cheaper one that does the higher ranges.

Just checked and its gone up quite a lot since I bought it but at low levels of torque you don't want to be messing about IMHO

I think in this case Ben you need to splash out a bit for a decent one, it will probably then not need replacing like the cheap ones :!:

I also would recommend the Norbar as Max has spoken about as that is what I use although I borrow it from my brother. As Max said the Norbar is only suitable for the lower torque settings so I have a Britool torque wrench for the higher settings, which my brother then borrows from me :!:
