Hi everyone,
bought my first vtr Sunday,didn't think I would after my mates expired on me when we swapped bikes back in 2010 ( it was a 97 one with 33k on it)but this came up cheap locally so I bit the bullet and now its mine.2000 model with 15k on the clock but sadly no service history,so firstly thinking of manual cct change straight away.
A bloody good clean is underway,the previous owner claimed he spent many an hour in the garage cleaning it,but it doesn't quite come up to the standard of the pan European I sold earlier in the year.
Going to have a good look through the workshop section on cct change,also think I may an issue with the tilt sensor the bike doesn't turn over until its upright, previous owner said they all do it.

They don't all do it, but they don't have a tilt sensor, either!
It'll be the side stand cutout switch. Easy fix.


The SP1 and 2 have tilt switches as they're injection, not carbs.

Sorting out the CCT's is very good idea.

As Tonys points out, no tilt sensor on the Firestorm as standard,

as said no tilt switch.
do the manuals
change the oil when your bored and ride away at it for many thousands of miles....


when you get bored of if change the front springs and rear shock

then.

ride away at it for more thousands of miles


ps, throw the standard cans away if they are fitted and enjoy the music

Thanks for the offer AMCQ46,much appreciated,1st post and i've learnt something already,always thought there was a sensor that cut the engine if the bike was dropped,has i said this only starts vertically and will cut after 10 seconds or so if left on the side stand.
Anyway thanks for the welcome posts and for the advice given.

pull the sidestand switch wires and join them together and see if that changes anything, it will answer the question if you are having sidestand problems
