Well, my new (2nd hand) rectrumfrier is on it's way (hopefully for the weekend)
Whilst that's on it's way, I have a query about the battery (as all the other electronics seem to check out ok)
Assuming my battery has had a couple of 30 mins runs (whilst poss being fried and drained of power) I need to check it.
Hopefully as the runs were short, just 2 runs have done no real harm.
I have it VERY slowly trickle charging up again on my charger/conditioner.
Without the bike running, is there anything I can test?
I'm just thinking (when the charger light goes out) I'll disconnect the charger, and check the battery voltage.
Then leave overnight and see how the voltage is then (dropped a lot of not)
Is there anything more sophisticated I can check with a meter (resistance etc)?
Also, is it better to disconnect it from the bike terminals so there is zero drain from anything whilst I test the battery like this?

Well, I'm a bit annoyed right now.
(Need to let off some steam - so here's a good place!)
Found someone selling a R1 Regulator.
Chatted to him via Email and we agreed on a price (£15 inc)
I even said in my email "as long as it works fine, I'll take it for £15 inc postage)
He said, he will put it in the post to me yesterday (Thursday) lunchtime, as I told him I needed it for the weekend.
He could not take Paypal and wanted a cheque, so I made out a cheque for £15 and put in the post to him that night (Wednesday)
Emailed him back, saying cheque in the post and should be with him 1st thing Friday.
Got an email yesterday saying did I include any extra for postage?
Ehhh, we agreed to £15 inc......
I emailed him back saying this.
Now, this morning, he's emailed me back, saying he did not realise the £15 included postage (even though it's written in the emails) and will return my check if it arrives today!!!
I send him a stinking letter back, seeing as he did not stick to him word/promise and send me the item yesterday lunchtime as he promised to do, so I'm not going to recieve anything from him for the weekend now.
I told him, we could have sorted out an extra £3 (hey, it's only £3) and I'd still pay £3 more if he posts today.
Dam annoys me when you rely on people to do something and they just don't.

I must admit people who you can't rely on annoy me also
I'm after a part at the moment on ebay for my four wheeled transport, there are two people who could have the part available that I require but both of them have poor feed back (77 percent for one and 66 percent for the other person) so I'm not going to risk it with them, I'll just have to wait until another person has what I need with better feed back
I realise in your case it's a bit different as you can't use your bike without the rectifier

*** Saturday Update ***
Well, had strong "email" words with guy yesterday and (to cut a long story short) all sorted out, and he agreed to send the unit to me (and did) yesterday lunchtime for the agreed £15 (without any extra) and it arrived this morning (Saturday)
I know this is old new to some, but I thought I'd take a few pics:

Slight difference eh
Followed instructions on that web page (posted earlier on this discussion)
I could not solder my spade connectors as they were the ones with the plastic insulating sleeve already around them. But using a proper tool borrowed from a work guy, they are REALLY squashed together tight.
No way they are coming apart!
Anyhow, here's a BEFORE picture:

And here's a Job done and finished picture:

Now onto my voltage figures (which I would like a little feedback on if that's ok)
Firstly, my battery has been on trickle charge for some time, and immediatly after taking the battery off charge (trickle charger had finished)
The battery voltage was 13.70 Volts
After a couple of hours of just sitting there (whilst I was working on the install) it had dropped to 13.14 Volts
So, onto the new R1 Regulator perfomance:
With the bike ticking over approx 1100/1200 rpm the voltage at battery terminals is 14.28 Volts
At 5000rpm the voltage is 14.22 Volts.
At tickover with lights full on, it's 14.10 Volts.
So no matter what I do, the voltage only seems to vary by 0.18 volts.
To me, this seems very good as the regulator appears to be keeping a very tight control on the voltage.
But, I'm no expert, so would value others views on the above readings.
