Help! Which tyres - Diablo Strada or Contiroad/sport :?:

Post by zine »

Hey all

My Diablo's are ready for retirement, so need advice on which tyres I should get.

I found the Diablo's wore out too quickly, so am looking at either the Diablo Strada's or the Continental ContiRoad/ContiSport?

I use the bike a lot for local riding and long distance touring, but also like to find the twistys on the weekend (weather permitting), and was wondering if anyone has tried either of these tyres.

Any feedback welcome, as I have heard mixed reports on the Continental's but none that have been fitted to a firestorm & I guess the Strada's would be similar to original Diablo's?

Thanks guys

I'd vote for Conti SportAttack. I had chance to try them (not on my bike) and I was very impressed. More than with new Michelins. Plus bike owner told me that Contis of this model does not wear off as fast as any other sport tyre he had before. BTW - most of European magazines rated them next best to new Michelins, while french mags rated them best of the best sport/road (not trackday only) tyre.
I myself waiting for tyre change just to get those on my bike. Another positive side - Conti's cheaper than Michelins and Bridgestone.

Thanks for the advice. My only concern is the wear rate, as firestorms tend to eat up rear tyres, esp the way I ride them

any idea how many km's or miles you would get out of the rears from the Sports Attack? I only managed 3500-4000km's from the Diablo's.

I only will be able to answer when I have them on mine :) So far I can't change tyres - budget restrictions :(

But: man I spoke to told me that they do wear slower than any other decent sport tyres he tried. So, considering that Michelins wear about same rate with Diablos I think Conti's will be better anyway. Guys from Continental insist that new construction they used mean more wear resistance with same grip, but this could be as well marketing bs. But Germans usually hopelessly serious about their statements :) And these Conti's developed and made in Germany :)

If you interested read some reviews that actually made me start asking people about those Conti's. Here it is

Oh! Then I gonna ask you few boring questions :) as I still have not managed to buy new set, so trying to learn more from specifically VTR owners with conti's.
What was that you did not / did like? Any details, pleaase?
Did you tried them on wet or on dry road?
I only had blast on my friend's bike, I liked them but may be I missed something?

I am not comparing with Strada (had nasty experience with them in wet), but with for example Michelin Pilot Power or Bridgestone 014 - how would you rate Conti's against those?
