Sorry Alan mate for not remembering it was you :!:

I was in my local bike shop this week and I saw a 2nd hand Daytona 955i for sale, which got me thinking how are you getting on with yours, now that you will have probably has a reasonable amount of time spent riding it, has it completely filled the gap of the Storm or do you miss the V/Twin to a degree :?:
What year is yours :?: the one in the shop was T reg I think, a 1999 model in a gold colour which was in immaculate condition looks wise. As I said before the Daytona 955i I do like very much, although I have yet to ride one, but I was very tempted to book this one up for a test ride :!: At the moment I've decided to keep the Storm as I really am smitten with the V/Twin thing and felt I would miss it too much if I had decided to have it, however had this one been in red and not gold it might have been a different story :!:

Hello Chris,

When I first had a test ride I wasn't sure if I liked the bike or not, the handlebars seemed to low, the seat height was a little bit higher and the pegs were higher and further back, it all felt a bit strange.

Had another test ride for a couple of hours or so and it didn't feel so bad after all. I changed the bike because it seemed like good deal, but I still wasn't sure, mad or what :?:

But now, after 2000 miles in two months, fantastic

It's a better ride, the suspensions better, it handles better, the brakes are better, it goes like stink 8O , and it's still got low down grunt like the storm but the best bits are the noise it makes with a factory can fitted and it does more mpg

Mine's an "new" 05 model with sharper features.

Do I miss the storm, not at all.

You can still buy new ones like mine for about £5,600 that a lot bike for that amount of money.

Alan

PS as you go can see it's one of the faster yellow ones,

that's interesting - lucky you, you must have quite light relationships with your bikes!
To be honest - out of bikes I had I am still missing at least 3: NSR250, VT250 and Hornet 600. Basically - I am missing all bikes that were not total sh...t like for example ex-my self-made russian opposite based chopper. I am sure if I sell Storm I will miss it even if I would not want to go back...

Hi Alan,
Sounds as if you took a bit of a gamble there, but I'm glad too hear it has paid off and you are delighted with the change :!: Cheers for the pic's, they do imo look a nice bike :!: The sound you get with a three cylinder (as I've mentioned before on these forums) is something that does really apeal to me, almost as much as a V/Twin, but that's only my opinion.
Excellent write up Alan many thanks, you've described the bike very well, and 2000 miles in 2 mths I bet there's not many bikers that's done that lately :!: 8)

I tried one, as the local Triumph dealer was knocking them out for £5995. I found the screen was too low and I got so much windblast to make anything over the ton uncomfortable (all the wind on my chinbar) the mirrors were very vibey and plasticky and the seat just too high for my compact frame. Very disappointed - then I test rode a GSXR-1000 - bloody hell, what a bike.

Personally (and I know it is just my opinion) a secondhand Gixxer thpou is a better buy than a new Daytona by far.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Hi Paul,

Good too hear your opinion, I suppose it comes down to preferential choice at the end of the day, not having ridden either yet I can't comment one way or the other :!: apart from those three cylinders sound awesome :!:

Maybe the screen is a little bit low, but thats easily fixed.
I reckon the mirrors are better than on the the storm, I also take the missus on the back quite a bit, I can't see her stuck up on the back of a Gixxer.

As you say personal choice.
