Just picked up my first 'Storm and.............

Post by LotusSevenMan »

........... the seat retaining mechaism seems a bit michael mouse. With the seat hump on, the shut lines aren't level to the lower 'bodywork'. I have looked at the middle hooks that pick up on the wire loops attached to the frame. These were hardly doing anything. With the loops pushed back a bit (by hand; a bit soft aren't they?) the seat holds better but needs a good thump rearwards with the flat of my hand to enable it to be removed. It is almost as if the humps tail piece is too low. Mind you, the forward rubber pads on the seat hump are well clear of the bodywork by about 6mm.

Any ideas what works?

Found that in daylight I could see the seat/pillion strap holding up the seat cowl front edge a bit. Tucked it back under the cowling edge and it's better. Will investigate further when it's drier out there!!!!!!

seat hump clearance

Post by CountryBoy »

hi mate,
I thought the clearance was a bit pants too, i,ve but a washer under the two fixings points for the tail section at the top just infront of the electronic control units, this raises the tail section a bit and closes the gap between the hump and the tail section.

countryboy.
I can't read nor rite but i can drive a tracor!

Mines a poor fit as well but if you look there a gap in the plastic for using throwover panniers and thats why the seat isnt a closer fit.
There was a time i used to care

I'm not alone then?
I'm told the 'Blade seats are much better in this respect.
