reg/rec. modification

Post by beckster »

Hi all,Hope this hasn't been covered before,if it has sorry.
For anyone who hasn't already done the mod you don't need to cut the old plug off and cut the wires.Simply use a terminal screwdriver and where the wires enter the back of the plug you will see a small lug, push the screw driver into the plug and lift the lug up,this will release the wire and the female connector thus there is no need to do any soldering.Just make sure you insulate each connector well before putting it on the new unit.

Hope this is of some use.
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it!

Having seen the various posts on this i thought i'd check the output from mine, i put a multi meter accross the battery terminals as previously described in the posts and without the engine running i had just over 13volts, not too bad i thought!, ran the engine and repeated the test, 18.5volts!, obviously this is over both what it says in the manual and what you guys have been saying, luckily i had a spare which i got a while back just in case, popped that on and now have just under 13volts without engine running and 13.5 to 14.5 with the engine running, i think thats about right, would you guys agree?.

Looks like you changed it just in time, a bit of luck.
