Hi,
What do people think of mixing tyre brands?
I have just bought a Firestorm and on the back is a nearly brand new Macadam 90x and on the front is a soon to be replaced Bridgestone B020.
Just wondering what to replace the front one with?
Thanks in advance,
Trev.

Personally I have done it in the past with no problems. You have to take into account construction and profile but so long as you fit a pair of the same type (eg radial with radial, cross-ply with cross-ply) its not actually illegal
However, the last time I mentioned it on here I got flamed!!

If the rear has plenty of life left in it you're gonna get 4-5000 miles out of it
You could fit a stickier michelin on the front which should wear out at the same time so you can then replace them as a pair.

I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

tyres
I use a BT010 on the front and a 020 on the rear, the 010 is a little softer so warms up better for front grip and the rear is sticky enough but lasts well.
Alot is down to personal choice i think, but i find the above works well and have been using the same combo for a few years now.

I don't see anything wrong with that combination and from experience I know it worksCountryBoy wrote:I use a BT010 on the front and a 020 on the rear, the 010 is a little softer so warms up better for front grip and the rear is sticky enough but lasts well.

Personally I wouldn't mix tyres from different manufactures
