Sold the Storm today

My first bike for 30 years.

Boughtan SP1 off ebay and I'm well pleased with it

Nice one Jaglifter !

I do like the hi-level Blue Flames, was considering getting a set of those at the bike show at the end of the month.

See your in Swindon, there seems to be quite a few of us within a reasonable distance with SP2's .... Myself in Cheltenham, Pete.L in Bristol, plus any others i donâ€™t know about ??

When the weather gets better, weâ€™ll have to get our heads together and arrange a southern meet, somewhere like Abergavenny. Will put up a post after Christmas to see what the response is like â€¦.

In the meantime, enjoy your SP mate its a super bit of kit which im sure you'll soon find out !

good idea. My younger sons mate has an SP1 and we've been out a couple of times, so he'd be up for it as well.

I'd have gone to the meet at end of October, but I'm booked to go to Germany to drink some beer!

What's the differences then between SP1's and 2's (apart from the price they're each making at the moment)?

Not a lot in all honesty LotusSevenMan,

The main difference with the SP2 is a refined swinging arm, which is visually different from the SP1. Itâ€™s apparently lighter and more stable than its predecessor.

The Honda baffle they give you when you buy the SP2 states that the engine, gearbox and suspension have all been further developed. There is a noticeable difference between the bikes with the SP2 being sharper & more responsive, but nothing that you wouldnâ€™t expect from a newer model. Its does pick up quicker than the SP1 and the suspension does seem happier at higher speeds, but youâ€™d have to have rode both bikes for quite a while to appreciate the differences.

Apart from that, visually the SP1 and SP2 are pretty much identical, obviously apart from the updated paint schemes. The fuel injection is still crap at low speed & you struggle to get over 110 miles on a tank of fuel, but thatâ€™s all admissible when you get on a nice bit of road & open it up

I thought Honda were supposed to have ironed out all the snatches and basically raw throttle response on the SP2, which made it hard work when going slow, IE through towns etc

On another note about the SP1, I was talking to the one of the sales guys at one of our local motorcycle shops recently, he now owns a Hornet 600 which he uses for work, and a Fireblade this years model which is his dry weather hooning machine. He used to own a SP1 and his opinion is that the SP1 is much more of a race orientated machine than the Fireblade, he loved it and although he's happy with the Fireblade he still misses the V/twin the SP1

From what i understand, Honda produced both the SP1 & SP2 for the racing market, which i guess is one of the reasons why they arenâ€™t too concerned about the erratic low speed fuel injection problem.

I've got to say the SP2 is a tad smoother through town than the 1, but its still nowhere near being good. I guess it doesnâ€™t help it much is that both bikes as standard are quite high geared.

Still, its all forgotten when you do pick up speed so you just either learn to live with it or void built up areas. In all fairness i donâ€™t really find it that much of an issue now, its just a pain to begin with when your first learning how to ride the bike .... Still wouldnâ€™t change it for the world tho !!
