Fluffys clutch cover "cover"

Post by RQ »

Fluffy (or anyone else that can answer)

I notice in your pic that there is something over your clutch cover that looks like it might save pennies if it were dropped. Where did you get it, or what is it !?!

I dropped mine a few months ago, and had a weld done on the cover, but it certainly won't survive another, I'd say even if I lay mine on its side, it would punch through the metal.

Cheers,

Ronan.

That'll probably be Creations Engine armour. Go to http://www.bikejohnny.com......or is it .co.uk? Either way, they do a kit for both clutch and generator covers, in Carbon or Kevlar for £119.99 all in.

Andy at Creations work that is.... and your right, I have got the race protectors on as they are a full cover. They come with inspection holes cut out etc and fit on with the supplied marine adhesive.

If you talk to Andy at Creations and mention that Tony from the VTR List sent ya, you will get at least a 10% Discount. He also does carbon sheet etc as well, I got some A4 size sheet off him to replace some brackets on the storm. A top bloke and his kit is really good.

The covers come in a "road" version to, these look similar but don't cover the whole clutch case, just the big round bit, and dont have the "bulge" at the bottom of the clutch case to act as a protector.

I dropped my last storm in Germany and even with bobbins on it still managed to catch that huuuuuuuuuuuuuge r/h casing so I reckon these are a good buy at around £100.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Tony

Thanks guys, just inspected my cover where the weld was done about four months ago, and it is seeping oil, so I'm not the happiest of campers at the moment. Looks like I'll be getting myself a new clutch cover....... unless anyone else can come up with a good idea !

yep, try a different welder, I found somebody whom makes alloy petrol tanks and he's welded cast, cast to billet, radiators and my clutch cover (had 2 holes and a split) and everything has been fine. I think the weld is silicon based or has a large percentage of silicon in it to seal it up.

Or send it me.

Del, love to send it over to you, but postage for that chunk of metal from over here might work out expensive !!

I invested in a tube of "Chemical Metal" by Loctite. Two tubes, one is the metal, one is the hardener. Applied this morning to the gap in the weld, rock hard in 10 mins ! Good for temps up to 160 degrees C, so should work out ! Just need to sand and spray now.
