full fairing or blade conversion

Post by chaz »

been thu a few posts from the past.
my storm is going to be tidied up, got some original cans at a good price to swap the scuffed ones. now for the body work..
currently the bike is black 1997 year, one side is oversprayed from a yellow one the other side is /was a red one. (stone chip giveaway)
I thought instead of looking (all the time) on ebay for a full set of black replacements I remember someone doing a conversion to a Fireblade full fairing,

is it easy, much bracketry needed? which year us best, (my early blade was a pain if you dropped the key when taking it out of the ignition);

thoughts or hints please.

I have seen the Italian one but no mention of price, did anyone find out??

Marlbroman is currently doing this conversion and looking very ggod indeed also Jay B completed one.
Its the foxeye blade fairings,as far as i am aware you need to alter the front fairing bracket to allow the blade headlight to mount properly and make some small brackets for the fairings to bolt to frame/engine wherever needed.Check his thread out here under sp1 bodywork!!!

chaz, you could always repair the pannels you have! its not too hard and a good sprayer should colour match them quite cheaply if you cant be arsed to do it yourself?

break out the filler and paint i say!

Oh dear, Wasnt me, i got me all me blade bits i need, its just a case of been in the right place at the right time i think.

Mines coming along nicely now,Started spraying rear panels today, just got to trim and tidy the homebrew brackets ive made,and spray em black,and jobs a good en. cant wait to see it finished.

Good luck with yours if you take the plunge. Its easier than you think. When i got all me bits i thought god where do i start, but when its all cabletied up loose to see how it all fits,it then gives you even more inspiration!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
