LSM
I've been thinking about this side stand issue and I am wondering if fitting a spacer under the rear shock has anything to do with it, or perhaps I should say not helping matters, IMO fitting a spacer will raise the rear (as we already know) so will in effect alter the angle of the bike when it's put on the side stand, I would say by raising the rear of your bike will in effect make it lean over further than it would normally :!:

Anyone else care to add to that theory :?: I could be talking a load of rubbish

Went to Halfreuds today to check colour matches. They boast 48,000 colours. Look in their colour chart book. A 2005 Lotus Elise yellow is correct (ish) for my Honda. They look it up on the computer for the component colours. "Nah, sorry mate we don't do that one".
"But it's in your book" I say.
He says he can't do it as not listed as it was probably a lead based paint. "What? from a 2005 Lotus? Do me a favour!!" He says he still can't do it and hands me another book. Daiwoo yellow 2004 is a very good match too. Yeah you guessed it. They can't do that either as they have several yellow shades and aren't sure which mix is which blah blah.
What a load of to**ers!!!!! 8O
48,000 colours in the book and we can do twenty of 'em probably.
They are wrong! they do it!

Did they check the motorcycle catorgaries? On the halfords machines they use a spanish load of software, very very few halfrauds staff ever realise this because its rare to be asked for a bike colour. They need to scroll down thru the options till they reach "motorcicle" or something, the spanish for motorbike. Then in that submenu are all the manufactuers colours! If they tell you that it cant be done, tell them they are idiots and to ring the canterbury store and ask there as theyve mixed me several colour matchs very well and are actually helpful (unlike most stores)!

Hope this helps! (caucer motor factors on sturry road in canterbury do colour matching for bikes too at £14.99 a can (although they are much larger).

Also- do you have access to an airbrush? You will get ten times the result compaired to a rattle can!

Actually Squiff I found the Canterbury branch brilliant when I lived there and was trying to get a matching colour for a 1932 stationary engine. They did me a perfect match. The idiots at Chatham were worse than useless. All too much trouble I felt.

Chaucer Motor Factors I've used before but not for paints.

I can borrow an airbrush but I'd be terrible with that. I also have my own compressor and a spray gun but I'll get better results from the rattle can myself I know. I bought the compressor for blowing out various items with the blowgun and for degreasing with paraffin (engines etc).

Sirch.

I think you might be right in terms of angles, but I think that would help the situation normally as it gives a better tri point support especially on slight inclines etc. It might be more of a problem on 'non concrete ground' but I still think that pad area is cr*p.

I saw a 2007 Fireblade this morning in the showroom. Sat fine on the tiled floor with another tiny sidestand pad but in the real world........................???

Squiff.
Did that you DO have bike paint codes with Halfords bit. It worked!!! But, they didn't have the right colour at all. None of their Honda colours are close. Even the Ducati yellow isn't right. The closest is either Lotus Saffron Yellow or the best was Daiwoo DYO Yellow. Both CAN'T be made up in the shop and have to be special order only due to lead content. 8O

Honda are using a place called RS Bikepaint in Barnsley so we are giving them a go now. I have sent them a piece of shattered fairing to match as my paint code under the seat has worn off!!!!

Harsh man harsh! Spending ages in the store for no reason is always annoying!

I'm surprised tho, i had several kawa matchs made perfectly there, although saying that the red on my storm wasnt an actual honda code (italian red i think is called).

Good luck on the other guys, please do let me know the outcome if you dont mind as anywhere that does a better match and is cheaper intrests me! (i've a 89 CBRthou to paint next week, thats lots of paint lol!)
