SP1/2 Insurance Quotes

Post by Pete.L »

Ok, So what is everyone paying for thiers?

Mine just come up for renewal and I've had two quotes for fully comp the best deal is for £319 fully comp, legal cover and no claims protected.
How are the rest of you guys managing? Am I in the right ball park?

£319 !!! I'd love to be paying that ....

I currently pay £920 fully comp - That’s 2yrs NCB, 6yrs riding experience, professional job, cover for leisure purposes only, kept in a locked brickwork garage and has a Datatool alarm/immobiliser.

My downfall is my age, being in the “under 25” category.

The majority of quotes I got ranged from £1,000 to £1,500, apart from Carole Nash who wanted nearly £3,000. Obviously, Carole was politely informed where she could shove her quote !!

How old if you don't mind me asking? Am paying about £400 TPFT. 2 years' riding, sort of professional job, bike kept in an Army barracks (this actually makes the price go up with some insurers!). That is with AXA in Germany where they don't care about points (8  ) or claims (2  both my fault   ). So god knows what it will be like when i get back to England. 8O . Ebike are supposed to be bloody good as they have no overheads and only deal over the internet. Really efficient too and offer all sorts of weird policies to suit low mileage or whatever.

I’m 22, so am still pretty young to be riding a 1000cc sports bike.

I’ve never heard of EBike, so ill have a look at them when im up for renewal in May.
I’m currently with Winners Direct, who don’t seem too bad. Bearing in mind this is my first year on the SP2 and it was insured as a brand new bike, I think it could have been a lot worse than £920.

I get Richard even worse with car insurance, that’s a real nightmare !

E Bike came up good for me....Paying around £150 TPFT for my Storm with age on my side (40 this year 8O ) but only 1 full years NCB as I suppose I'm classed as a born again.
Also included Breakdown cover and Legal Expenses for no extra cost....Breakdown covers probably worth aroud £50 on its own.

I very recently got some quotes for both bikes through Bennetts online. I am 31 yrs with 4yrs NCB, The SP1 fully comp was £318 and the SP2 £348. But by far the best deal was the SP1 with TPFT coming in at a very affordable £98 :!: 8O 8O

To be honest I thought all these prices were fairly good, I paid £380 last year for a 2003 Aprilia RSV and that was only TPFT through Carole Nash, but at the time this was the cheapest apart from Bennetts who could only match it!

problem is everyone is different..
experience, location, fc or tpft, garaged, occupation, use etc.
Ive got a Royal Sun Alliance multi bike policy with Carole Nash renewed in May covering 2 Harleys Xl1000 (1978 value £2k ) and a 1200 (1988 value £2.5k) for £151 TPFT with 3 speeding points aged 47.
I rang in August to put the storm on (1997 value £1400) and it cost £15 for the bike til May plus £30 broker fee. I can have one more bike at least added. NCB is protected as well for that.

He He Hee! Yep that's a bitch. I was lucky in my twenties the insurance company had reversed the year of my birth making me elevan years older than what I really was so I had real cheep insurance untill I was twenty nine and changed from a Honda Thou to a RF 900. Then I got roasted  The following year I had passed the magic 30 so it went back to a more acceptable level.
My first quotes on the SP last year were for £1500 so I tossed them and the next level of quotes were around the £550 mark.
So It lookes as though I'm in the right ball park

I think im just an insurance nightmare .... Young male, not many years NCB’s on a new powerful sports bike.

I've got everything they suggest like the Cat 1 alarm & immobiliser, Datatag, certificated ground anchor & chain and kept in a brick built garage. I also live in the middle of nowhere, but that doesn’t seem to matter !

Apparently, it helps if you’re co-habiting. When I mentioned that, the chap said the end price would be less …. They must obviously know the other half, and the earful she gives me when im off out on the bike !

I'll try get a quote with Highway, see what they come up with. Lots of people said EBike were good, but they quoted me £1,350 this morning.

might be time to ressurect it and sticky it so its easier to find.

Not sure what mine will be since I just paid for the rest of the year when I took on the SP, so cuurently I'm paying for 3 bikes.

I've gone with Bennetts
Its there Advantage Scheme through Advantage Insurance Co Ltd.
It's about £30 cheeper than Eagle Star whom I was with last year.
