termignonis?

Post by Hanuman »

Just before christmas I was visiting my old and decrepid BMW riding father darn sarf and decided to pop across to three cross motorcycles as it was round the corner.

They had a nice 6 month old Ducati Sport 1000 with twin termis on (kite marked but sneakily baffles were removed). I sat on it and fired it up and made them an offer straight away, had I another £500 to splash out the bike would have been mine and the VTR would have had a new home.

Perhaps fate wasnt ready to have me finish with the VTR yet til I had unleashed some of its potential.

So.... to my question, will I ever get my firestorm to sound like a Ducati fitted with termis? Which pipes will give the bike that deep rumbling cracking spitting skull popping sound that almost had a grown man cream over whilst sat on the sport classic?

:D

From my experience

Remus are a lovely bassy sound, not far off ducati

Art are just fook off loud :eek2

For that authentic ducati sound drop some 1p coins in the oil filler hole :)

First time I went out with the VTR and Scorpian cans and no baffles my mate kept saying that as we pulled into quiet Kent villages people would look!!!
Just sounded good to me.

I'm lucky as the bike came with a 'proper' set of full baffles, a set of proper baffles with the ends cut off so they are just straight through and of course the choice to go 'fully open' (ooh err missus!).

There are the original cans there too if ever required.

My Arts have been known to set off car alarms 8O

They sound great, but if you keep the revs down in town it's a deep burble that's not offensive.

ARTs are definatly the loudest cans ive ever heard on a storm and i think ive heard most! The blue flame ones sound great inmo, also look the nuts if you get the dual exit ones!

The Ducati does sound good, but as it has a very long 90 degree engine, it sounds different to the storm. Anyway, check out these various cans:

Akrapovic
Creptus (???)
No Exhaust!
Sparrowlegs - what cans are yours again hun?
Leo Vince
Remus
Normal Cans - Awful paint
Yoshimura (baffled?)
Jardine
ART
748 Termi's
1098 Termi's (oooooh!)
1000SS Sil Motar (I dunno, some italien things prolly)

Personally, I think the storm sounds just as good (except the 1098, cos of the full system and proper race engine, it just sounds amazing)

Can't find a Blue Flame one though, Alan or I will have to video ours, have to take my baffles out though (too loud otherwise for starting at 6am for work :) )

I have Blueflame evos twin ports they was extremely loud when i got them but since i have had my new headers and link pipes made its just fxxking insane!!!!!!!!!!!.If you look on the forum at my 'first test ride' you will see the pipework,i think its louder now as the pipe he used is a smaller diameter than stock creating more pressure on the exit, thats my theory anyway.

As Kitch has said we will have to have a video comparison sound test with everyone

Maybe its just me, but that one with 'awful paint' is actually quite nice
Wouldn't mind seeing a proper pic of that
