Pics of wheels before and after, these was just stripped with nitro morse and very fine wire wool then rinsed down with water, dried then buffed up again with fresh wire wool then a good polish (no polishing mops or drills was involved) then i masked off the rims to paint the centres.

Polished wheels

Post by stormsmasher »

Top tip...... don't polish the whole wheel unless you have access to a professional machine.

I did and it took me about 10 hours per wheel...oh and I had already polished the rims at that stage too!!!

They were quite easy to keep clean once polished but a nightmare to do in the first place.

Most pro's are reluctant to untertake such a job but expect to pay in the regionof £100 per wheel.

Hope this helps

Rich what colour are your wheels?

It really didnt take that long with the nitro morse, that stuff will strip the skin off a rhino.I was a bit dissapointed with the Fireblade 929 original paint at how easy it came off compared to the vfr which took a lot more time.

Have to agree with Daz a pro polisher aint cheap,i was qouted 15 pound per side to polish the rim then 30 quid to powder coat the centre.

Reason i chose not to highly polish these wheels is i had high polished wheels before on my storm and was a pain in the butt to keep that way.If you wash the wheels and dont dry them properly the water stains are a tw@ to get off.

The wheels are black and would more than likely go down the same route as you alan and not get them professionally done. That nitromors sounds like good sheeeeeet.

Problem being I am moving over the next month or 2 if the solicitors pull their fingers out there arses so will probably have to wait until then to use the garage space etc....but want it done now!!!!!

I have just got my hands on an anniversary one...pick it up tomorrow! love the exhausts you had on yours what sort were they?
