1st decent ride on the Storm

Post by DD »

Hi, I've had my 03 Firestorm for 2weeks now and last weekend a small group of us went for a 700km ride. This ride included long straight roads to some of the tightest and stepest roads in NZ as we went from the east coast to the west and return.
After having a 97 MG 1100i Sport for the last 3yrs and a CX500turbo for the 4yrs before that I kinda had to learn how to ride again.
What a buzz the VTR rides it self, just add a little negitive push on the correct bar and you've turned the corner. The bike is smoth and very resposive for carbs. I however find that engine breaking is bad and you need to do a hell of a lot of gear changes (after being used to 5 speeders)
The Scorpion pipes sound sweet and the double bubble type screen is a must. Cant weight till next weekend :D

PS: Not bad wheely bikes eather (not that I was trying)
cheers Darryl

Yeah - what he said. 8)
I used to live in Christchurch (had a VF500 while I was there) but never got to ride Arthurs Pass (or any of the other passes, for that matter).
I've had my Firestorm for about 6 weeks, I guess, and soon learned that the upper couple of gears are for decoration only, LOL. In fact, when commuting, I use only the first two! Just ride the big wodge of torque between about 4K rpm and redline.
