Sunday Ride around my new home

Post by Seeker 77 »

Finally got round to doing something with my helmet camera and new solid state recorder. The quality is much better on my machine than on youtube but you get the idea!!

The guy on the bike i went past is a mate of mine who just happened to be on the same bit of road, i couldn't follow him forever as i had told the wife i was just out for a "quick spin".

Went past a copper towards the end of the ride and i panicked a bit so kind of 'ran for home'

Enjoy

Good video, the stability of the image is very good, what type/brand of camera are you using,i fancy one of those instead of strapping my video camera on with gaffer tape
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it!

The camera is made by Dog Cam http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/dogcampro480.htm

The solid state recorder is a Mobibox which i got on ebay. The video looks loads better on my laptop than on youtube. All up price for the lot was £200. Well worth it. Will be going to the Alps this Summer to get some really good footage i hope.

The camera has proper high grade suckers on it that i tested to 184mph (indicated) on the Autobahn and the stability is fine. The mic is a bit pants though, it can't cope with a pair of Harris cans without distorting.

Your call mate but in my opinion DON'T! I had the ATC 1000 first then sold it cos it was really bad. The 15fps makes it look proper billy basic. The ATC 2000 runs up to 30fps but the upload rate to the device is poor and it jumps.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDBHrY2oGRM This shows you the result. I have done a lot of investigation into this whole thing and for the money my setup is the best you can buy. Unless you already have a camcorder with an AV-In port - check this list http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/avcamcorders.htm then all you will need is the camera and one of those yellow, red and white into one cables!

Hope this helps

nice video man!

as for AV-in ports, most Archos have these, 10gb and a high bus rate...also can be had for under a ton now! :D

Got one, tried it, doesn't work!!! The hard drive skips when you are recording under hard acceleration and corrupts the file. You then have to try and recover the file with software meaning it chops parts of the clip out i.e. the ones were you are going fast - the interseting bits!!

Nonetheless they are great for watching videos, got an 80gb model and have put 100 odd films on it.

Cripes! I'm glad I'm not at work or something! Clicked on the link & it just opened a completely white screen. No problem with the sound, but no pic whatsoever. AND, to top it off, it won't close! LOL. Even tried the ol' task manager & it doesn't even register.

Not sure if I'll be game to try it again, but it does sound good.
