Bike running for first time in 5 months :)

Post by firestorm996 »

Woohoo :)

Just spent the night sorting out my zed as it's been sitting dormant and SORN'd since the end of September. I'm re-taxing it for March, I just wanted to make sure I didn't ride it over winter as that's when I lobbed it last year leading to an expensive rebuild, also I think it being a kawasaki and all, would probably just disintegrate as soon as it saw road salt. Anyway, having done all the little jobs I thought might as well see if he fires up....

Put the battery on (which my optimate keeps telling me is knackered), ignition on....blimey the clocks & fuel injection work....ok here goes.....press starter...fires right up no messing!

I know it seems trivial but I think for a motor that's been sitting in a cold damp garage not run for 5 months to just fire with no faffing about on an almost-discharged battery is feckin excellent. I ran it up to temp for a while then killed it. It was soooo good to hear the engine running again! Now I just wanna get out and ride....

Not trivial at all, totally understandable.
Enjoy riding it, have fun!

Our bikes are so personal to us all - even if we don't ride them as often as we like, just knowing they will start and take us where we want to go (which is where most non-bikers couldn't even dream of) is sufficient to keep up sane (I think!)

Sorry if that got a bit deep, but Mr Grant from Dufftown is round to call.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Good to know that I'm not a nutter for getting excited over such things then... :)

Hopefully they won't salt the roads during the cold snap predicted for the next few days, as I'm taxing the zed this weekend and hope to get out for a bit on saturday :)
