At last got my hands on a 8 spoke 750 rear wheel for my bike after months of bidding and being outbid.I have the 5 spoke but dont like the look of it.
Stole it from another bidder by 2 quid 112 quid to be exact,it arrived the other day in need of painting or powder coat.
So i begin stripping (the wheel not me )nitromorse burns and dont want to burn the big fella

anyway all paint off and what do you know its had a right ding in it

and looks like its been prof repaired.(im a little wombles off at this minute)so i decide to take to Kwik fit to see if he could check for true and everything,i see the same guy who has changed tyres onto bike wheels for me before,he looks at me and says cant tell if its true by our balancer or anything like that best thing to do is take it home and roll it alonf your kitchen worktop and check it that way

i asked him if he was taking the piss and he was serious, make no wonder my fooking car vibrates like a jack hammer

(still fooked off at this stage take it to my local Honda dealer (where my bike goes for mot and previous services, mechanic tells me it wont pass the mot as all aluminium wheels that are repaired are not road worthy

if the wheel was painted and he didnt know well thats another story.Anyway conversation went on then he looks in some manual he has and tells me that that ruling has been omitted from the test

now all i need to do is check for true/runout etc .So he tells me put it on the bike, jack bike up, start bike, set a tyre depth guage at 20 mm, hold the guage onto the edge of the rim from a point on the swingarm, watch the wheel spin and if the guage moves at all i will be able to tell (he says your allowed 2mm of run out) well it only moved 0.5 off a mm

im really happy at that min,all i need now is the tyre on to see if it holds pressure. Here hoping!!!
ps anyone else with any experience from damaged wheels either using them again or not.
