Another Dodgy Weekend with the spanners

Post by Zakalwe »

Well, had a crap Friday at work, so decided to blow the cobwebs away with a blast on the SP1. Leathers on, beautiful sunshine, but crisp air. Was blasting along thinking that the bike felt really strong...put it down to the cold dense air.

Tootled back through Lancaster, filled up with petrol and then a blast home via the back roads as the sun was gong down. I shot past a line of traffic that was being held up bt a Landrover and trailer, pulled back in and hit the brakes for stop sign and....the bike dies.Image

So there I was, stuck on a tee-junction frantically trying to start the b*stard as everyone that I had blasted past went by, giving me evils.

Got it started, but it kept dropping onto one cylinder. It fired up, I tried to turn right and the bugger died again, leaving me stranded in the middle of the road.Image Cue a manic push off the junction across the road. Kept trying to start it with no joy...kept dropping onto a single cylinder when I lifted it off the side stand...stunk of petrol (foot long flames out of the exhaust 8O )

Anyway, I managed to get it home, with it running on a single cylinder (though the bast*rd nearly had me off as it chimed in on a corner....about 30BHP to 100BHP in .5secs).

On Saturday it wouldnt start.....the warning FI light was flashing a code which meant a buggered injector. Decided to strip it down at about 6PM....fairings of, seat off, fuel tank up.........The bloody Power Comandeer wire had been pinched under the tank and was earthing outImage

Finally finished repariing the wire at 12:30 (between running out to look at this:

Moral of the story....If you have a PC fitted (Jaglifter, Mellis etc) make sure that the wiring is routed correctly (see HERE)

Oooh. Not good especially the power coming in when not expected. :o Think positive now though. You found the fault.
