Chain and sprockets?????
Been doing some maintanance on my VTR and decided that it needs a new chain and spockets going to replace the lot and i can remember a topic on here regarding changing the gear ratios by either losing or adding a tooth at the front or rear or both. What are peoples views on doing this? Does it affect the handling in any way? And were is the best place to get a good chain and sprocket kit from? Really want a sparkly alloy rear spocket and maybe a coloured chain but depends on price and quality. Let me know your views.

Hey there steve m8..after reading various post herein, i tried 43 rear and 15 front .to see if it made any real difference. ...well it certainly does
acceleration was much quicker, but i found that it threw out the speedo by about 7-10 mph so an indicated 30mph was more like 40mph
and 3rd and 4th gear felt like it made little difference[like they were the same ratio] no real pull and I lost about 20mph off the top end it would run out of puff at about 125mph..i recently switched back to a 16 tooth front, and the speedo reads true[almost]. so if you are after leaving everything for dead in the first three gears at the lights.and power wheelies off the throttle in second, the change is a real grin maker and also good for trackdays[scare the blades and R1s out of corners and halfway up the straights]
then this "mod" is for you .....try it anyways and if your old set arn't too fked you can always swap back...

Thanks for the info guys think i am going to change the gearing but one thing that is worrying me is the length of the chain if i lose one off the front and add two on the rear what chain length would i need??
Also going to try one of these Stealth sprockets on offer at M&P at the mo £39.99 and looks like i might be able to just buy the outer ring to change the gearing so if i dont like it shouldnt be that hard to change back
