DATATOOL Immobilser Question

Post by JohnnyB »

Hi All,
I've got an old Datatool Immobiliser on the storm (the one with the touch key and touch pad, its been on there since new in 97).
I inadvertantly disconnected the battery the other day without disarming it (yeah , I know  ) and now the bloody thing won't disarm.

Does anyone know if these things can be reset or alternatively how easy it is to rip the whole thing out?

Any advice much appreciated!

Datatool

Cheers Kaz,
I've done this and found some stuff for the later models with alarms. I'll try a similar procedure on my antique version and see if it works.....

I've now established that this is a Datatool Uno immobiliser with LED. Anyone had any experience with these things?

I've got one on mine and its a real peice of shite, I managed to bugger mine up a couple of years ago by getting it to work and then removing the fuse. this seems to have killed it which can only be a good thing.
It used to set itself at really inconvienient times and then refuse to reset and allow the bike to start. the little pad thing had to be super clean (pencil eraser good for this) and only one of the little key things seemed to work.

Thanks Max, I'll try the eraser trick.
Definitely going to have it removed one way or the other!

Well, I've finally got the datatool removed and am back in business.
I also got myself a 24k service and a fresh MOT.
Not going to bother with another immobiliser, I'm putting a ground anchor in the garage and I suspect most bikes just get lifted into vans rather than ridden away and its one less thing to go wrong!

First time this morning for aver a month, foggy, damp, new 020 on the rear so had to take it easy - bloody loved being back on it though. :D
