It's the piston ring on the rear cylinder...............
Don't know what to do with it. Spending over a grand to get it fixed seems like a joke, especially as i will have to sell it right away. If the piston ring has gone now then what is next?
This is the second Honda i have owned and after the CCT dramas i had with the storm i really don't think that i trust Hondas anymore. I know that i am probably in the minority but my confidence is truly shaken.
I think that i am going to go back to a zook after all and be through with it.
Too late bud, i saw one with 16000 miles for 950, there was one over here on German ebay brand new for 1200. I think that i have just lost the bottle for Honda engines. I know that i am probably in a small minority but i can't change the way i feel.
I will just have to be one of those who is on the site who once owned two VTRs! I will miss the noise and the 'soul' but at heart i am a speed freak and on that score there is only really one way to go........
Mellis, Even given all the magnesium coating bullshit, £1000 seems steep! I guess though if you dont have confidence in the bike then you're never going to enjoy riding it.
I was browsing round George Whites today in Swindon (picking up a new plug cap for the SP). The new ZX6R Ninga, red lines at 16,200. Now thats going to make an awesome howl!
They also have a second hand (2005 I think) Firestorm, which is one of the best I've seen. Red with black wheels. Very nice.
Well it is funny you should mention it but i am trying to convince the wife to let me keep the SP1 for sorting out at a later date. Don't get me wrong, i love it and always have. Ask anyone about the comments i put up when i swapped the firestorm for it. The noise is unmatched by anything other than a ferrari 360 challenge stradale, it is comfy, attractive, fast and handles really well. But as you note, my confidence has gone. Every time i ride it now, i'm thinking "what was that?", "was that a misfire?" And sadly that is the way it will be. I am hard on my bikes and i just think that the SP1 isn't really made for my every day daily rider style. I got i really, really wet and it has never been the same since.
Here is another one for you techno wizards (LSM). I have run it on a PC3 for the last year. This changed the economy of the bike from 90 miles to a tank to 130 miles to a tank. Could this have leaned out the fuel too much and caused damage? Just a thought like but you never know.
