Viper cans fouling on swing arm..............
Viper cans fouling on swing arm..............
Hiya guys......i have noticed that my low level viper cans on my storm foul on the swing arm when the suspension is compressed.......anyone else had the prob?? ....... the bike has never been dropped and everything appears to be fitted as it should be......it almost appears to be a design fault.
anyway its not majorly out and was wondering if there was anything i could do to widen them by about 5mm either side.......anyone??
Cheers VeetyR(john'o)

you might get away with just scooshing (technical term) the cans back on the pipes.
There might be enough room for you to get the space you need...

Hope you can see what I mean, just slide a section of pipe a bit further out and clamp it up.
Otehrwise, I'm sure any engineering company could knock up a length of pipe the right shape and diameter, with a small adjustment to be longer / wider.

just an update.......i looked at the bike......and have noticed the strap for the cans is attached and tightened on the inside of the hanger....looks like they could fit on the outside.......can someone have a look at theirs and tell me whether theirs is inside or out?????

hi veety,
i have vipers on mine and they did the same as yours
,
in the end i a) mounted straps 5mm or so further out with a few washers and b) spent a while moving the left hand can ( as you sit on bike ) out on its join to the main pipe under the bike, you can only go so far before teh clamp will lose purchase on the main pipe...end result = now it clears with a few mm to spare
....

hi
my quill cans catch the swing arm and more! the link pipes they supplied dont even fit properly.
on the link pipes they have the brackets which your meant to mount to the foot rests. well they are miles out so i cant clamp them to the oe rearset.
then my cans are very close to the swingarm and the right can touches and has marked the swingarm like yours. going to cost me roughly £120 now to buy the high level fitting kit to stop this. hopefully the link pipes will be a better fit also.
cheers

I have Scorpion high level can's and I definitely rate them, like all after market can's they needed a little playing about with, with everything loosely bolted up, but lined up really well with each other and are both level height wise at the backsean-emmett wrote:has anyone else had major probs with the fitting of their link pipes?
what are they like on cans like scorpion, remus, micron, and the carbon can co?
mine will not line up where their meant to bolted by the footrests.

Hi Mark
I fitted a set of Beowulf cans (low level).& the linkpipes didn't fit too well.
R/H side mounting was well out needed the slot opening at the top about 10 mm.The L/H side slot lined up ,but the length of pipe that fitted to the header was about 15mm too short.Plus i had to put a dink it the top to stop the chain cutting through it.
Cheers

hi,
yeah on my link pipes on the chain side, if i was to bolt the bracket on the link pipe to the footrest as it should be then the link pipe would be way to short to reach the main pipework.
and the other side the bracket is just not at the correct angle to bolt up to the footrest.
you would think that paying from £400 up for our cans & link pipes that they would fit well!
plus my job is to make aluminium tubes so im looking into making my own hi level link pipes that will fit well and be at the same height as the moriwaki exhausts.
cheers

Made a pair of exhaust hangers out of tubular stainless that replace the oe hangers.Well the other half isn,t fussed for going on the back anyway.
So i made a jig that allowed the offset & angle adjustable ,so i could angle the cans sharper, more like the angle on an sp1.
I think it looks better, sort of half way between high & low level.
Cheers
