r/r -battery or just loose wire?

Post by olkno9 »

had the bike pack up on me mid lane on motorway few months ago, got her on the hard shoulder and battery seemed flat no respones just clicking. i have read the r/r mods on here so bought a yamaha one put it on and hey presto it worked, for 20 seconds then bike just died and battery flat. turned ignition off for a min then tried her again and it fired up and ran on tick over for a while, reved her and seemed ok. turned it off then started agan ran couple of mins then just cut off. turned ignition off then on and she fired up again. held revs on 4 thous revs , was ok then just died off and stopped. does this sound like the battery is naff, was going to replace but i want to find the real problem first as i wont be able to trust the bike on a run out if i dont find real problem. or might it just be a loose earth ire or power cable shorting somewhere as when it seems battery is dead if i leave a min it fires up ok, and i know they take some turning over . any ideas from you brainy fellas and lasses of course. cheers, Ian

dont know if i could trust it to make the journey without doing any more damage than already done.as it is at the min it keeps cutting put every so often so would be a bit risky. id be willing to give u some cash to hold if youd let me take the battery a cple of days to try it then get it back to you or are you using the bike regular.
