Creeking rear suspension?

Post by BazF »

The rear end has recently started creeking. The bike is fittted with some sort of Ohlims shock but it sounds like a dry joint if you know what i mean?

Any advise would be great.

It sounds like the swingarm and linkages need a good greasing, also check the linkage joints before you ride it again as Pete.L on here had a squeak from his rear suspension and it turned out to be a crack in the housing of the bearing on the linkage which if left could have been disasterous :!:

Right I've found his picture, hopefully yours will not be like this :!:

Yep, get it stripped ASAP

Mine started doing it out of the blue and one of the bearings in the linkages had shuffled off its mortal coil!!
I now strip, clean and grease them every year

Also, be worth checking top and bottom joints of the Ohlins out coz I know of three that have seized solid and subsequently snapped off!! 8O 8O

Good to see you get what you pay for!!!
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

I know thank fu*k i found it. The squeaking was really starting to bug the hell out of me

The bikes been/going to be getting a complete spring clean & service.
Done so far:
Brakes removed, cleaned, brackets resprayed, braided hoses rerouted, new fluid and pads.
All the fairings have been resprayed
New chain and sprockets, 15F / 44R
HID Xenon 8000k kit.
Fireblade fork covers reprayed
Oil and filter change
Iridium Plugs

Still to do:

Carb balancing
Valve clearance check
CCT change out

The bike never came with sevice history so going to get the lot done now for peace of mind.
Then after all that i want to get the little bugger dyno'd just to see if it really does make 120hp like the previous owner said. bet it doesn't!
